Hugh Jackman stepped in after Blake Lively suffered a wardrobe malfunction at the 2026 Met Gala. Appearing on Today With Jenna & Sheinelle on May 6, the actor said he considered what her husband, Ryan Reynolds, might think of their interaction.
“There was another cool moment—I’m literally, as I’m saying it, thinking maybe you shouldn’t say this—but Blake, my good friend Blake Lively, goes, ‘Dude, I need some help with the dress. I think there’s a hook in there,’” Jackman shared.

“And I’m like, ‘OK,’ I’m like, ‘Ryan [Reynolds], is this cool? Checking. Are we good?'” He joked.

On May 4, Lively walked the red carpet at the Met Gala hours after settling her lawsuit with Justin Baldoni. The Gossip Girl alum, a frequent fixture at the annual ball, selected an archival Versace dress complete with a 13-foot pastel train.
Lawyers for Lively and Baldoni released a joint statement announcing that they’d come to terms two weeks before they were due to go to trial. The lawsuit started back in December 2024 when the actress accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and more improper behavior on set.

Baldoni filed a competing lawsuit, and the pair went back and forth in court in the lead-up to the trial. His lawsuit was dismissed in June 2025. More recently, Lively’s allegations of harassment, defamation, and conspiracy claims were dropped from her lawsuit by a judge.
“The end product—the movie It Ends With Us—is a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life,” the legal teams said in a statement shared with People. “Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors—and all survivors—is a goal that we stand behind.”
