WWE Backlash 2026 live results: Updates, grades, analysis for Roman Reigns vs. Jacob Fatu

WWE Backlash 2026 is here. With WrestleMania 42 in the rear-view mirror, WWE is shifting gears to the rest of 2026 with Saturday night’s annual Backlash premium live event, taking place at the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida.

The first PLE since last month’s WrestleMania deviates from the traditional Backlash formula of running back several matches from the “Showcase of the Immortals.” In fact, just one match — a United States Championship bout between Trick Williams and Sami Zayn — is a repeat of last month’s extravaganza.

The show is headlined by Roman Reigns’ first defense as World Heavyweight Champion, as he puts his title on the line against Jacob Fatu, the latest wrinkle in the suddenly on-again Bloodline saga that dominated much of the first half of this decade in WWE.

Beyond those two championship clashes, Iyo Sky and Asuka will meet after feuding for several months. While the match has potential to steal the show and could have been on the WrestleMania card, it does come after the release of Kairi Sane, who played a central role in the simmering rivalry.

Another long-brewing feud will get a payoff match as Bron Breakker and Seth Rollins meet. Former friends in The Vision faction, an injury to Rollins led to a pivot to kick him out of the group and effectively make Breakker the leader in 2025. A hernia injury to Breakker that required surgery forced this potential WrestleMania showdown to be delayed to Backlash.

Finally, Danhausen and a mystery opponent will take on The Miz and Kit Wilson. Danhausen has become arguably the biggest breakout star in WWE since his debut at Elimination Chamber in February.
