Bryce Dallas Howard gives a major Ahsoka season 2 filming update and teases her “romantic” episodes. Howard has directed several of the all-time best Star Wars TV episodes, including “Zero Friends Again” in Skeleton Crew, “The Heiress” in The Mandalorian season 2, and “Return of the Mandalorian” in The Book of Boba Fett.

Howard is now directing two episodes of Ahsoka season 2, which is currently in production, and is expected to premiere in 2026. The season will follow Ahsoka Tano and other key characters on Peridea while Grand Admiral Thrawn threatens the New Republic.

While speaking at Los Angeles Comic Con, where ScreenRant is a media partner, Howard reveals that she has finished shooting her two episodes of Ahsoka season 2. She also hints at her episodes being “romantic” and including everything that fans want out of an “epic story.” Check out her comments below:

“I just finished shooting two episodes this summer for Ahsoka season 2. It is so good. It’s beautiful, it’s thrilling, it’s adventurous, it’s romantic. It’s all the things you wanted from an epic story.”

What This Means For Ahsoka Season 2

Ahsoka season 2’s production takes a significant step forward with shooting confirmed to be done on both of Howard’s episodes. If this season consists of eight episodes as its predecessor did, this means that at least a fourth of season 2 has already been shot, which bodes well for meeting the 2026 release window.

As for Howard’s mention of her episodes being “romantic”, it is a surprising description for a show that did not have much in the way of romance during season 1. This would not be the first time she has brought romance to Star Wars TV shows, though, with her first episode of The Mandalorian featuring a romantic relationship between Din Djarin and Omera.

The Mandalorian Season 1, Episode 4: “Sanctuary”

The Mandalorian Season 2, Episode 3: “The Heiress”

The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5: “Return of the Mandalorian”

The Mandalorian Season 3, Episode 6: “Guns for Hire”

Skeleton Crew Episode 6: “Zero Friends Again”

Sabine Wren and Shin Hati have been a popular ship in the Star Wars fandom, referred to as WolfWren, and it is possible that Howard’s episodes make the relationship a reality. Her episodes may also introduce a new romantic interest, just as she did with Omera in her Mandalorian season 1 episode.

With it being about two years since Ahsoka season 1 was released, it is satisfying to hear that production on both of Howard’s episodes is complete. Ahsoka season 1 ended with several cliffhangers, but this latest update assures that the show’s biggest questions about Peridea and Thrawn are closer than ever to being answered.

With Howard’s episodes being thrilling, adventurous, and romantic, her installments have the potential to be some of the most compelling in season 2. She has delivered many of the most memorable episodes in previous Star Wars shows and is poised to do so again with Ahsoka.
