Bakers Lane Books has acquired world rights to Don’t Forget to Remember Me, a YA debut by Annie Drum, via Sally Bird of Calidris Literary Agency.

According to the publisher, the novel follows 13-year-old Starling Cooney, who lives with her grandfather. She hasn’t made any friends at school until new student Bronte arrives. But when her grandfather goes missing, Starling sets out on a journey to find her mum.

Based in central Victoria, Drum ‘writes short stories and poetry and has had work included in anthologies’, said the publisher. ‘Her many years working as a social worker with young people informs her writing.’

Publisher Ginny Grant said, ‘Quiet, compelling and full of heart […] It’s a story of first love, identity and the value of true friendship.’

Of the acquisition, Drum said, ‘All those hours in my writing den moving words around and at last, Ginny Grant comes along and is prepared to take a chance on my story. Yay for the small independent press!’ Grant launched Bakers Lane Books earlier this year.

Don’t Forget to Remember Me is slated for release in May 2026.
