Robert Pattinson will be back as the Dark Knight in The Batman – Part II, as more information has finally emerged about his DC sequel.
Filming will start in June on The Batman – Part II, as Matt Reeves has started revealing new details for his highly anticipated installment. On Wednesday afternoon, the filmmaker began posting on X with welcome messages, including GIFs from the first installment, to announce each cast member.

While he wasn’t mentioned in the initial batch, Sebastian Stan is confirmed for The Batman – Part II, as the Marvel veteran recently spoke about joining Reeves’ DC franchise. The director’s upcoming reveals could potentially also include Scarlett Johansson and Charles Dance, as well as who they will actually be playing.
Reeves shared a first look at The Batman – Part II on May 7, with production undergoing tests with the Batmobile. Through his update, it was confirmed that the 2027 entry will be taking place during the winter.
After The Batman movie ending in 2022, the franchise expanded to the small screen with Farrell’s DC villain getting his own The Penguin series on HBO. The crime drama explored what happened to Oz after Gotham City was flooded, as he began to rebuild his power.
There have been endless speculations on what The Batman – Part II story will do with Pattinson’s take on the DC icon. The franchise will exist under DC Studios’ Elseworlds banner, as James Gunn’s DC Universe will have its own Caped Crusader.
When ScreenRant’s Liam Crowley spoke with Serkis in April 2026, the British actor praised how The Batman – Part II script is tackling new territory for Reeves’ vision of the Dark Knight. Having worked with the filmmaker before on the rebooted Planet of the Apes franchise, stated how “the script and the story and the new story really does speak to Matt as a human being and what he feels about life. Rob and he got on brilliantly. And I can’t say any more than that, but yeah, the relationship continues to be one of a very close, slightly at odds, but beautiful relationship.”

As the cast and crew get ready to return to The Batman universe, DC Studios also has Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow movie coming up in 2027. The Superman sequel is currently filming in Atlanta, Georgia, with David Corenswet reprising the role as the Man of Steel while Nicholas Hoult is back as Lex Luthor.
The Batman – Part II is officially set to open on October 1, 2027.
