Taylor Swift fans all over the world are gearing up for the release of The Life of a Showgirl, scheduled for Oct. 3. With all the excitement of a new album has come a sort of fan burnout that some people have been struggling with over the past few weeks.
Let’s face it. There’s been a great deal of Swift news happening. From her New Heights podcast appearance to her engagement to Travis Kelce, the news has been a wonderland of all things Taylor Swift for weeks. Add to that the ongoing hunt for Easter Eggs, a 12-song track list for a new album, and enough countdowns to send anyone into a frenzy, well, some Swifties are feeling exhausted.
On Sept, 26, a fan took to a Facebook fan group to express the sort of fan burnout that some are feeling ahead of Oct. 3. Dozens of comments amassed on the post with many fans feeling the same way.
“This release has been, in a word, exhausting, lol. I am here for it, I am supporting, I have spent TOO MUCH MONEY, but I’m tired, grandpa!!!” one person wrote.
“I do love her but all of these variants, glitching international websites and minimal numbers of international stock and still no single. It’s getting exhausting,” someone else said.
“The variants are just so exhausting I’m sorry, and that’s NOT exclusively to Taylor I swear, I just think it’s odd for ANY artist whatsoever to have 6+ variants of the exact same album. Please don’t hate me I’m swear I’m excited,” echoed a third fan.
“Long time fan. Life is just busy now, I’ve honestly been annoyed with all the countdowns to the point I didn’t even care about the last three. I love her music, I’m going to the theater on Friday, I just am tired,” a fourth comment read.
Plenty of fans are super pumped for the release and haven’t felt the fatigue that some others have noted. It’s an exciting time for Swifties, no question, but surely once the album is out, fans will feel refreshed and ready for what’s next. Not to mention, that’s when the real sleuthing begins because Swift’s lyrics? Are on another level.
“And, baby, that’s show business for you!”
