Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have separated after nearly two decades of marriage, according to a source who spoke to the BBC. The couple, both prominent figures in the entertainment industry, married in June 2006 and share two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. The news was first reported by TMZ, which cited sources claiming the two have been living apart since the summer and that Kidman does not want the separation. The BBC’s source confirmed this reporting, although the specific reason for their split has not been disclosed.

The couple, who have roots in Australia, have experienced significant highs and lows together during their marriage. Over the years, Kidman and Urban often attended award shows and Hollywood premieres in support of each other, reflecting a strong public partnership.

Their relationship also faced challenges, particularly early on. Months after their wedding, Urban checked himself into a rehabilitation centre for drug and alcohol addiction. Kidman, alongside Urban’s friends, staged an intervention that Urban described as life-changing.

Reflecting on this difficult period, Urban stated on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2010, “Everything was just designed, I believe, for that moment to fuse us together.”

Urban has spoken in the past about the positive impact Kidman had on his life. He said, “I look back now and realise Nic has taught me so much and brought so much into my life and opened my eyes in so many ways,” adding, “[This is] the best place I’ve ever been.”

The two were seen together as recently as June, attending a FIFA Club World Cup match in Nashville, Tennessee. They also appeared publicly in May when Urban received the ACM Triple Crown Award, where they were photographed together holding hands and appearing close.

Kidman was previously married to Tom Cruise for more than a decade, with whom she shares two other children. Their marriage ended in 2001.
