As much as the iPhone Air wants to prove that thin phones are the next big trend in the phone space, I would have to remind you that the best foldable phones still carry that title. And for a limited time, an early Prime Day deal makes the cost of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 half the cost of the iPhone Air.

That’s big news, because for $599, you can snag an unlocked version of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 that’s ready to work with just about any wireless carrier. What makes it even a better deal is that this phone comes with a whopping 512GB of storage, which is still way cheaper than paying the $1,199 cost for the equivalent iPhone Air.

Here’s all the reasons why I think this Galaxy Z Flip 6 deal is a better buy than the iPhone Air.

Even though Samsung has subsequently released the Galaxy Z Flip 7, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 still has a lot going for it. For starters, this flip-style phone is still pretty thin at 6.9mm — which is actually not too bad compared to the 5.6mm size of the iPhone Air. But what makes the Galaxy Z Flip 6 better is that it folds in half to make it much more compact.

I also like how Samsung’s foldable flip phone can be adjusted in different ways to activate different modes. For example, I can angle the Z Flip 6 so I can watch a video hands-free using the top position of the screen — or perhaps put it into tent mode to record videos of myself using its 3.4-inch outer screen. There’s no way I can do any of this with the iPhone Air.

Secondly, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 features a dual-camera setup that consists of a 50MP main camera and a 12MP ultrawide. The iPhone Air only has a single rear camera, which limited its utility in this case because of the lack of an ultrawide.

Plus, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 has way more (and better) shooting modes that I like to use with my workflow — like manual modes for photos and videos.

Speaking of utility, there’s also no comparing the software experience between the two. Even though the iOS 26 software on the iPhone brings a much-needed redesign to the interface with its Liquid Glass design, the iPhone Air lacks new AI features to compete against its rivals. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 runs One UI 7, but more importantly, offers way better AI features than the iPhone Air because of Galaxy AI. I put Samsung’s Generative Edit feature to the test against Apple’s Clean Up feature, and the winner was convincingly Samsung.

Seriously, this Galaxy Z Flip 6 deal is incredible because for almost half the cost of the iPhone Air, you’re getting a flip style phone with more cameras, more AI features, and more storage. What more could you ask for?
