According to a new analysis from The Independent Pharmacy, Great Yarmouth ranks sixth among places facing an “obesity related healthcare strain”.
The research found 34.1 pc of adults in Great Yarmouth are affected by obesity, making it among the highest areas in the country.
This is alongside an average waiting time of 17 weeks for obesity-related treatment.
Dr Donald Grant, GP and senior clinical advisor at The Independent Pharmacy, said: “Our study highlights the areas where high obesity rates and long NHS waits are combining to create significant pressure on local services.
“In places where more than one in three adults are living with obesity, demand for support is already high.
“This is not only a waiting list issue, but a wider prevention challenge.”
Northern Lincolnshire and Goole topped the index, with 35.1pc of adults classed as obese and similar waiting times.
