Doctors left a man and his family in the dark for years about his diagnosis with Huntington’s disease, a rare and devastating progressive neurodegenerative disorder passed from one generation to the next.

The claim is made in a lawsuit in which the HSE and several GPs in the west of Ireland are being sued for negligence by the now-deceased man’s daughter, who herself has been diagnosed with the hereditary disease.
