It seems that Swift was actually teasing the collaboration back in April.
Could it be that Taylor Swift was actually teasing her Toy Story era back in April? Knowing Swift’s penchant for a fun Easter egg moment, it seems pretty likely. The singer, who sings the new song “I Knew It, I Knew You” in Toy Story 5, attended the film’s Los Angeles premiere on June 9. In addition to her cowgirl-coded playful, patchwork Erdem strapless minidress, the artist also wore a gold chain necklace with a diamond horseshoe pendant.

The necklace was another apparent nod to Jessie the cowgirl, who is the focus of Swift’s new song. But, as it turns out, this wasn’t actually the first time Swift had wore the necklace. Back on April 27, she was spotted out and about in New York City wearing the very same piece. She paired the necklace with a sky blue striped dress, a pair of red platform sandals, and a bright yellow handbag—and looking at it again now, all of a sudden, the whole outfit is starting to look very Toy Story color-coded. Could Swift have been teasing her Toy Story collab two months ago? Probably.

After a few days of fan speculation, Swift announced her Toy Story song on June 1. “I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a 5 year old kid watching the first Toy Story movie,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. Sometimes you just know, right?”
Swift gave a surprise performance at the Los Angeles premiere, slipping into a yellow gown to sing her new song along with the Toy Story classic tune “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” alongside Randy Newman.
On stage, Swift told the audience, “It means the world to me to be a small part of the universe of these films,” per Variety. “Toy Story 5 is my favorite of all the Toy Storys. I’m so lucky I get to be a part of this.”
“It’s insanely beautiful,” she added. “It’s a masterpiece.”
