Martin Scorsese contemplates good vs. evil in the first trailer for “Mr. Scorsese,” Rebecca Miller‘s five-part Apple TV+ docuseries on the visionary director.
“Who are we? Are we intrinsically good or evil? This is the struggle. And I struggle with it all the time,” Scorsese says in a voiceover as clips from his most famous works, including “Taxi Driver” and “Raging Bull,” flash on the screen. “Where are we going? What stories do we want to tell? I knew I could express myself with pictures, but I had to find my own way.”
Premiering Oct. 17 on Apple TV+, “Mr. Scorsese” promises “an intimate and richly layered examination of one of cinema’s most influential and enigmatic figures, featuring never-before-seen footage and in-depth interviews with those closest to him.” Stars and collaborators featured in the docuseries include Robert De Niro, Daniel Day-Lewis, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mick Jagger, Robbie Robertson, Thelma Schoonmaker, Steven Spielberg, Sharon Stone, Jodie Foster, Paul Schrader, Margot Robbie, Cate Blanchett, Jay Cocks and Rodrigo Prieto, along with his children, wife Helen Morris and close childhood friends.
Directed by Miller (“She Came to Me,” “Personal Velocity: Three Portraits”), “Mr. Scorsese” is executive produced by Miller and Damon Cardasis at Round Films (“Maggie’s Plan,” “Saturday Church”) as well as Miller’s longtime collaborator Cindy Tolan (“Étoile,” “Dandelion”). Other executive producers include Rick Yorn, Christopher Donnelly and Julie Yorn. Ron Burkle produces, with Robert Fernandez and Patrick Walmsley as co-executive producers. The series is presented by Expanded Media and Round Films in association with LBI Entertainment and Moxie Pictures.
