Amazon MGM Studios‘ highly anticipated James Bond movie has a new rumor about one of the potential frontrunners for the long-running spy franchise’s next leading man. This comes after the studio officially obtained creative control over the iconic 007 franchise in February 2025, as part of a new joint venture deal with James Bond franchise co-owners Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
Who is the potential next James Bond actor for Amazon MGM?
According to World of Reel, Amazon MGM Studios is reportedly “quietly pushing” Euphoria and Saltburn star Jacob Elordi for the lead role in its James Bond reboot. The outlet notes that there is still a long way to go before the studio makes an official casting. However, Elordi might get to do a screen test for the role next year.
This won’t be the first time that Elordi’s name has been mentioned in a James Bond casting rumor. It was previously reported that the Australian actor, along with Tom Holland and Harris Dickinson, was rumored to be at the top of the studio’s list of actors that could potentially succeed Daniel Craig’s version.
The next James Bond movie will be directed by Dune filmmaker Denis Villeneuve from a screenplay that will be written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. At the moment, casting speculations about which actor would be chosen to become the next 007 continue to circulate online. The studio is expected to make a final decision sometime in 2026 as production will reportedly begin in 2027, just in time for its target November 2028 theatrical release. In a previous interview, Knight revealed what James Bond fans can expect from the next 007 movie, teasing a “better, stronger, and bolder” story that’s different from past iterations.
