Could Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) be leaving Coronation Street?
Honestly, we wouldn’t blame the teen for wanting to run as far away from Weatherfield as possible.
She’s had a terribly tough few years, first losing her boyfriend Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) in a knife attack, and then discovering that her ‘dead’ mum Becky (Amy Cudden) was still alive.
Becky then made an attempt at reuniting with ex-wife Lisa (Vicky Myers), keeping her partner Carla Connor (Alison King) hostage in an airing cupboard and then bundling her into a shipping container. Believing that Carla had given up on their relationship, Lisa prepared to leave for a new life with Becky and Betsy abroad.
When her crimes were uncovered, a new beginning for the Connor-Swains was on the horizon. Lisa and Carla married, and except for the murder that took place on their wedding night, there seemed to be happiness ahead.

However, earlier this week, Betsy received a lucrative offer that could cause a lot of upheaval.
She told best pal Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) that she’d been offered a place at the prestigious London College of Fashion, and would be starting her course in September. Although Lauren was excited, Betsy couldn’t help but feel saddened by losing her life on the cobbles.
After breaking the news to boyfriend Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne), he told her that he supported whatever decision she made and that he’d come and visit her in the capital.
However, she still hadn’t told her mum, and was worried about how she’d react.
In today’s episode, Betsy revealed the offer to Carla and Lisa. Having worked in the fashion industry for over two decades, Carla was thrilled for her step-daughter and hoped that she’d grab the opportunity with both hands.
Lisa, however, struggled to share the enthusiasm.

She thought that September was far too soon for her daughter to be moving away, and said that there was still a lot to consider. Putting on a smile, Lisa assured Betsy that she was happy for her.
Later that day, when Lisa returned from her shift, Carla tried to assure her that London was only two hours away on the train and that they had enough money to pay for her accommodation. She also thought it would give her a new challenge and direction after the trouble she’s been through.
Lisa said that Betsy was still her baby and that they hadn’t been apart for 18 years. Trying to convince her mother, Betsy said that she wouldn’t be far away at all and that they wouldn’t have to miss her.
Will she go through with the move?
