Samay Raina has announced the return of India’s Got Latent, the comedy talent show that became one of India’s biggest digital entertainment phenomena before being derailed by controversy earlier this year.

The second season will be released simultaneously on Netflix and YouTube, marking a significant shift for a show that built its audience almost entirely on YouTube. Episodes will be available on both platforms at the same time and with identical runtimes, giving viewers the flexibility to choose where they watch.

The dual-platform strategy is an unusual move in India’s streaming market, where creators and platforms typically compete for exclusivity. For Netflix, the partnership brings one of the country’s most recognisable digital-first comedy properties to its platform. For Raina, it offers access to a broader audience while preserving the show’s strong connection with its YouTube fan base.

Raina announced the development in a video featuring comedian and collaborator Balraj Singh, explaining that the show’s format and release structure would remain largely unchanged. The creators also indicated that the unfiltered style that helped fuel the show’s popularity would continue in the new season.

Netflix India amplified the announcement across its social media channels, signalling the platform’s confidence in the show’s ability to attract younger digital audiences.

The return comes months after India’s Got Latent was pulled from YouTube following a controversy surrounding comments made during an episode featuring Ranveer Allahbadia, Ashish Chanchlani and Apoorva Mukhija. The episode triggered widespread backlash and led to multiple FIRs against Raina and others associated with the show.

Allahbadia later issued a public apology, while Raina removed the episodes and stepped away from public appearances for an extended period.

The announcement also prompted reactions from members of the creator community. Ashish Chanchlani jokingly referenced the earlier controversy, commenting on social media that the makers should add a disclaimer this time to make legal battles easier.

Raina gradually returned to the spotlight through his stand-up special, Still Alive, in which he addressed the fallout from the controversy, his absence from public life, mental health struggles and the support he received from friends and fans. The special went on to attract millions of views on YouTube.

With the launch of Season 2, India’s Got Latent is attempting a rare comeback. While Netflix and the show’s creators have yet to reveal a release date or guest lineup, the decision to distribute the series simultaneously across subscription streaming and free digital video platforms has already generated significant interest.
