Melina K is a freelance designer from Singapore and now based in Brisbane, Australia. She’s focused on visuals for the music community, having designed for cult indie-rock band Peach Pit as well as dance musician Brothertiger’s 2024 tour. Tailoring her design for musical expression, it comes as no surprise Melina loves to experiment. “I’m drawn to layouts that feel a bit experimental – mixing bold, loud type with softer scripts, or adding tactile details to digital work so it feels more alive,” Melina says.
Melina brings in the decay and wear of nature and blends it with human touch, marks of faded ink and and text skewed on a slight diagonal. In a recent project, she created textured letterforms captured through water on concrete. Her intuitive approaches are informed by stillness, observation, and nature’s unexpected beauties. “Life feels like it’s shifting a lot right now, and I’ve been leaning into mindfulness as a way to stay grounded,” she says. “That naturally draws me to the beauty of nature, where I notice textures, colours, and small details – weaving those into my work whenever I can.”
