Schlossberg says Democratic Party needs to “do things differently”

Jack Schlossberg took the stage even before the results were known, saying: “I want to be the first to speak of all the campaigns tonight because our campaign represents so many firsts.”
“If we win tonight or if we don’t, we’re still in the midst of a corruption crisis,” the Democratic candidate for New York’s 12 Congressional District said, adding: “We need to do things differently.”
CNN has since projected that State Assemblymember Micah Lasher will win the Democratic primary for New York’s 12th.
But in his speech at the time, Schlossberg took the opportunity to individually thank everyone on his campaign team, along with his family.
“It’s been the honor of my life to work with this group of people and to run a campaign in my hometown that I am actually so proud of — the integrity and creativity,” he said.
He implored Democrats to “learn from the signals that are being sent all across the country” or else risk continues losses.
“Unless we elect people who offer real answers, the insiders are going to keep winning arguments, and then we’re going to lose the big election, and that is what got us to Trump two times, and maybe a third.” he said.
The 33-year-old grandson of former president John F. Kennedy ended his address with a message of hope.
“I’m hopeful because all of you have heard and answered the call to service in our country and our city, and I could not be more proud of what we built together,” he said.
