Mawingu , one of Africa’s largest internet service providers focused on underserved communities, has successfully closed its Series C funding round, marking a major milestone in its mission to deliver meaningful internet access to millions.
Founded in Nanyuki, Kenya, Mawingu has grown steadily and now connects over 120,000 people across Kenya and Tanzania. With the new funding, the company has set an ambitious target to reach 1 million Africans by 2028, opening up new opportunities through affordable and reliable connectivity.
The round welcomed Pembani Remgro Infrastructure Managers (Pty) Ltd as a new investor, alongside continued backing from existing shareholders including E3 Capital, FMO Investment Management, PIDG Project Development – Africa (InfraCo), Microsoft, and the company’s founders.
Mawingu credited its 380+ employees, community trust, and partner support for driving the company’s growth and enabling it to scale impact.
