Kristen Stewart honored Chanel‘s storied history on Tuesday while attending the first day of the “Nouvelles Vagues” International Biarritz Film Festival in Biarritz, France.

The Oscar-nominated “Spencer” star turned to the French luxury fashion house’s cruise 2027 collection for her attire in the seaside, Southwestern town in France. The knitted piece was cast in black, with a customized slightly off-the-shoulder neckline and three-quarter-length sleeves.
The miniskirt included biker shorts just beneath and stripes of red and cream were included at the neckline, cuffs, hem of the shorts and on the skirt. Small, symmetrical gold buttons were also added to the skirt.

Stewart added a crocodile-textured black leather strap belt with the interlocking Chanel logo in gold at her waist for added silhouette definition. She completed the look with minimal jewelry pieces, black loafers and a pair of sunglasses to boot.
Matthieu Blazy began his role as the creative director of Chanel in April 2025, replacing Virginie Viard. The cruise 2027 collection marked a significant, sentimental moment for the couturier, who staged the presentation in the seaside town where Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel founded her first couture house.

“Blazy, who’s been coming to Biarritz since he was a kid, made a natural connection with one of his personal obsessions: mermaids. Model Noor Khan starred as a sea creature in the charming black-and-white teaser film for the show, and closed the display in a turquoise sequined gown with a fishtail hem,” Joelle Diderich wrote in WWD’s review of the collection.
“This is where she took her first steps into fashion,” Blazy said after the show, per Diderich’s review. “What’s very interesting about Biarritz is that she basically observed. She watched the swimmers. She tanned. She watched the sailors.”
