Despite losing 3-2 to Türkiye, the country had a starry support system
Beginning with Team USA’s opening match against Paraguay on June 12, celebrities such as Tom Cruise, David Beckham, George Lucas and Halle Berry have flocked to SoFi Stadium to see the country compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament.
While the USA didn’t emerge victorious at the final first-round match against Türkiye on Thursday, June 26 (losing 3-2 in the last few minutes), the team wasn’t lacking in high-profile supporters.
Brad Pitt appeared on the big screen chatting with his Fight Club co-star Edward Norton. Leonardo DiCaprio, who also attended the opening, hid his face when the camera panned over him. Colin Farrell and Ashton Kutcher remained stoic when in the spotlight, but Owen Wilson flashed a smile when he came into view.
Paris Hilton, who came with her family, embraced the attention, waving in a star-covered patriotic shirt and white sunglasses. Jessica Alba giggled with female friends with her face came on the screen. And Will Ferrell and fellow comedian Fortune Feimster put on the biggest show, dancing and laughing together. The second time he appeared on camera, Ferrell — who stars in Netflix golf comedy The Hawk, premiering next month — held up a wrapped hot dog.
Other stars who came out to support included Alison Brie and Dave Franco, Kelly Roland, Joey King, Scottie Pippen, Lance Bass, Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff, Chase Crawford, Keegan-Michael Key, James Cameron and Nick Lachey.
While many of the notables sat in boxes, other VIPs attended hospitality lounges. On Location offered guests a top-shelf open bar (with everything from Taittinger Champagne to signature cocktails), as well as a buffet spread of gourmet food. Guests filled their plates from stations of fresh sushi made on-site, beef short rib, leg of lamb, corn ravioli, M&M cookies and more before heading to their seats to watch the action.

The USA withheld top players from this low-stakes game in preparation for the knockout round, for which the team has already qualified. On July 1, Team USA will play Bosnia and Herzegovina (the lowest-ranked competitors the team has faced so far) in Santa Clara, California — and you can bet some famous faces will be watching.
