Few celebrations in world football are more iconic than Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘Siuuu’.

The Portuguese superstar sprints towards the corner flag, leaps high, twirls in mid-air, then lands with his feet planted wide and his arms thrown back by his side.

At the same time, he shouts “Siuuu!”, an exaggerated version of ‘si’, the Spanish word for ‘yes’.

Ronaldo first unveiled the ritual after scoring for Real Madrid against Chelsea during a pre-season friendly in Miami in August 2013, insisting it was a spontaneous reaction.

The former Manchester United forward explained: “I started to say ‘si’, like ‘yes’, when I was at Real Madrid.

“I was in the USA, and we played against Chelsea, and I don’t where the celebration came from. I just scored the goal and it came out. It was just natural. Since that, I started to do it more often.”
