It’s clear that Mariah Carey isn’t obsessed with drama.
Especially when it pertains to her longtime rival Eminem. The “Obsessed” singer cleared the air about the rumor that their beef started because she didn’t want to play the rapper’s mother in 8 Mile.
“Who knows who approached who,” Mariah explained about whether there was validity to the story during the Oct. 1 episode of Watch What Happens Live. “No, I mean maybe. It depends what he’s thinking.”
Though host Andy Cohen questioned whether that incident “ignited the beef,” Mariah simply couldn’t be concerned with the “Mockingbird” rapper’s issues with her.
“I really don’t care,” she said. “Whatever he’s said that I’m that, fine. Not really, that’s a rap lyric.”
In June, Mariah’s former manager Damizza Young claimed that she was initially excited to take a call with the rapper to discuss appearing in a film. However, once Eminem got her on the phone, it was all downhill.
“I want you to play my mother,” Damizza said on the TFU podcast as he recalled Eminem, 52, telling Mariah, 56, before revealing her reaction. “She did not like that s–t at all. Her insecurities kicked in big time.”
