Three people were killed and several others injured in a US-Israeli strike near the southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz on Thursday morning, a provincial official has said.
Valiollah Hayati, Khuzestan’s deputy governor for security and law enforcement, said what he described as the “Israeli-American regime” had targeted a location on the outskirts of Ahvaz, News.Az reports, citing Mizan News Agency.
“As a result of the attack, three people were martyred and several others were injured. Rescue and medical teams are currently providing assistance to the wounded,” he said.
Hayati said the full extent of the incident and the extent of the damage were still being assessed.
“Further information about the attack will be announced through official channels once the necessary investigations have been completed,” he added.
Separately, Iranian authorities said that a member of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force was killed during an air defence operation in the early hours of Thursday while responding to what they described as hostile projectiles and Israeli drones on the outskirts of Ahvaz.
