The first so-called pilot zone in southern Lebanon, where the Lebanese army is set to assume control of territory currently occupied by Israeli forces, will be launched “in a matter of days,” a U.S. official said Thursday, even as Defense Minister Israel Katz said earlier Thursday the IDF would not withdraw from what he described as “security zones” in southern Lebanon.
