President Isaac Herzog eulogized Zehava Shaul, mother of Oron Shaul, who passed away. Herzog said: “A brave, determined and inspiring mother, who dedicated more than a decade to an uncompromising struggle to bring her son, First Sergeant Oron Shaul of blessed memory, back for burial in Israel.” Herzog also mentioned in his remarks her husband Herzl, who passed away before their son was returned: “We had the privilege of accompanying the family until the painful and devastating moment when Oron was brought to his final rest, after more than ten years of waiting, pain and longing. At that moment we also thought of Herzl of blessed memory, who did not live to see his son return to his homeland. Zehava bore this pain on her shoulders with incomprehensible courage, and never stopped believing, fighting and loving for a moment.”
