Megadap has just released the world’s first Leica M to Canon RF lens mount adapter with autofocus capabilities: the M2RF. Compatible with Full Frame and APS-C Canon RF cameras, this compact adapter features a built-in motor that makes the lens move back and forth to achieve autofocus. So, let’s take a closer look at it!
Chinese lens mount adapter manufacturer Megadap is well-known for its unique lineup of products, including the EFTZ21 Canon EF to Nikon Z and ETZ21 Pro Sony E to Nikon Z lens mount adapters.
First shown at CP+ 2026, the Megadap M2RF is a lens mount adapter that lets you use Leica M lenses on your Canon RF camera, with a unique promise: giving you autofocus capabilities.
Megadap M2RF lens mount adapter – features
As we already mentioned, the Megadap M2RF allows you to mount Leica M lenses on a Canon RF full-frame or APS-C camera. According to the company, it supports nearly all Canon EOS R mirrorless cameras, including EOS R, RP, R1, R5, R3, R6, R8, and the R7/R50/R100. However, there is no mention of Canon’s Cinema EOS line, so compatibility with cameras such as the EOS R5C, C50, C70, C80, and C400 is not known yet.

The adapter is entirely made out of aluminum and is available in black or silver. On the side of the adapter, you’ll find an AF/MF switch that lets you switch between modes with a single click and activate “macro mode” with a double click.

Indeed, the M2RF features a built-in motor that physically moves the lens back and forth to achieve autofocus. When you attach your lens to the adapter, you’ll have to set your lens’ focus ring to infinity, then let the adapter do the rest without touching the focus ring again.

On the left side of the adapter, you’ll find an aperture switch that can be a bit confusing. When attaching a lens to the adapter camera, you’ll need to synchronize its aperture with the aperture set on your camera. There are four “presets” that you can customize to your favorite lenses within the adapter’s software tool. Also, lining up the lens’ maximum aperture and focal length in the tool gives you correct EXIF data. So keep that in mind when using the M2RF: set your aperture to infinity, and line up your lens aperture with the adapter’s preset and camera settings.
Last but not least, according to the company, the M2RF supports Canon Dual Pixel AF, including Eye Detection, Subject Tracking, Face Priority, and AF-C. Furthermore, the adapter supports IBIS if your camera has it.
