She rocked a subtle hair transformation inspired by her mom, Cindy Crawford.
Gerber’s colorist described her new hairdo as a “very fine” balayage.
If Kaia Gerber’s latest hair transformation looks familiar, it’s because her mom Cindy Crawford wore it first. On July 27, Gerber showed up at the New York City premiere of The Shards with subtle blonde streaks.
Speaking to Allure, Gerber’s colorist Jenna Perry explained how Crawford inspired her daughter’s new ’90s-coded hairdo.

“This specific hair color, we’ve been plotting now for maybe two months,” Perry said.
“The inspiration was her mom, truly. We elevated and modernized it a bit. Cindy’s hair in the ’90s was more contrast, hi-fi versus what we did to Kaia, but with the same intentionality: a brunette with very expensive blonde highlights,” she explained, describing the style as a “very fine” balayage. “That was the goal.”

“At the [The Shards] premiere, she wore [her hair] in a deep side part, and the focus was that her hairline was really bright and golden so she could flip it around and give that ’90s essence,” Perry continued.
Gerber also channeled her mom while doing press for the FX series earlier that day. The 24-year-old sported a satin little black dress and pointed-toe mules, evoking a look of Crawford’s from 1991. She attended a benefit for AIDS Project Los Angeles in a backless satin halter gown and sharp slingbacks.

In May, Kaia’s family celebrated with her as she toasted the launch of her new Re/Done capsule, The Kaia Edit. They tagged along for the Los Angeles event held in her honor, which also commemorated her joining the brand as an investor, creative partner, and advisory board member earlier this year.
