It embraced the language, imagery and swagger of resistance, but recoiled when I, a Palestinian rapper, brought the realities of occupation and discrimination onto the stage
When I was invited to participate in the television documentary series “Black Gold: The Story of Israeli Hip-Hop,” I refused: not because I played no part in Israeli rap’s past, but because Israeli rap was never part of my past as a Palestinian. It also isn’t part of my present, and I’m fairly certain I won’t play any part in its future.
