Here are Thursday’s latest updates:
■ Two Israeli civilians were attacked by a group of Palestinians after they mistakenly entered the Palestinian city of Jenin in the West Bank, the IDF said. According to the IDF’s statement, the Israelis’ car was damaged after Palestinians threw a brick at it. No injuries were reported.
■ Mossad head Roman Gofman has removed two senior agents from their posts following a failed plot to topple Iran’s regime. The agency’s head of intelligence and the head of the Mossad’s Iran division were dismissed from their posts despite ongoing investigations into the agency’s operation regarding Iran, agency sources said.
■ Gilad Erdan, Israel’s former ambassador to the United Nations, launched a new right-wing party under his leadership together with rebel Likud lawmaker Yuli Edelstein. Erdan declared that he will not sit in “any narrow government.”
■ An Iranian parliamentary committee is reviewing a preliminary bill that would bar U.S., Israeli and other “hostile” vessels from transiting the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency reported, citing a lawmaker. The draft bill would impose fines of up to 20% of a ship’s cargo value for violations of the proposed restrictions.
■ The United Kingdom’s charity regulator said it has launched an investigation into charities in England and Wales accused of channeling funds to illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank.
■ Some 150 people gathered in Jaffa to protest against violence, racism and Israeli settler groups in the West Bank.
■ Uganda’s parliament voted to approve the deployment of its military to the Gaza Strip, if it was needed as part of a multinational security force proposed under U.S. President Donald Trump’s cease-fire plan for the enclave.
