New guidelines from the pharmaceutical regulator say telehealth doctors should first prescribe medication after an in-person consultation, dealing a blow to online health service providers including Wesfarmers-owned InstantScripts and Woolworths-backed Eucalyptus.
The guidance for telehealth and virtual care published by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency on Tuesday includes a list of “good telehealth practices”, after an uptick in concerns notices following the widespread adoption of digitised health services.
