Rihanna’s children will one day have to come to terms with their mother being the Rihanna. Luckily, Rihanna herself is laying the foundation for them to understand that fact by taking them to the street she grew up on in Bridgetown, Barbados, which has been renamed Rihanna Drive. How many more times can I say Rihanna here? Rihanna!
On Tuesday, the singer shared photos taken in front of her childhood home on what used to be called Westbury New Road. In 2017, the street was officially renamed Rihanna Drive in honor of the local legend. In the photos, Rihanna poses alongside her three children — Rocki, RZA, and Riot — whom she shares with A$AP Rocky. The youngsters aren’t obviously impressed by how important their mother is, but they’ll get there one day.
“One minute I feel like that kid from Westbury … the next minute I’m bringing my own kids back to ‘Rihanna Drive,’” the singer wrote in the caption of her Instagram post. “Trippy how life works! And the Glory STILL and WILL ALWAYS belong to the Almighty Creator!!!”
Most people’s trips back home involve bad pullout couches in your parents’ living room and avoiding eye contact with high-school classmates at the grocery store. For Rihanna, it’s taking your kids to a street named after you and pulling off the flashiest look at the Kadooment Day Parade. As usual, she is running away with the Coolest Woman in the World award.
