Lola Young announced she’s stepping away from her music career for a while, following an incident in which she collapsed on stage.
Young collapsed during a performance at the All Things Go festival on September 27, cancelling two shows following the incident and asking her fans to understand her need for a day off, according to the New York Times. In an Instagram post on September 30, Young says she’s cancelling all her upcoming engagements “for the foreseeable future,” a decision that she said pains her to say.
“Thank you for all the love and support. I’m so sorry to let anyone down who has bought a ticket to see me, it hurts me more than you know,” she wrote, offering all ticketholders a refund. “I really hope you’ll give me a second chance once I’ve had some time to work on myself and come back stronger.”
It’s not clear what prompted Lola Young’s incident on stage, nor what influenced her decision to step away. She posted after the collapse that she was doing okay. What is clear is all the love and support she’s received from her fans in the wake of her decision.
