Apple unveiled its slimmest smartphone to date, the iPhone Air, during its annual September event in California.
The device, which measures just 5.6 millimetres in thickness, features a grade 5 titanium frame with Ceramic Shield on both sides and is powered by the company’s latest A19 Pro chip.

The launch was introduced by Abidur Chowdhury, an industrial designer at Apple, who described the new handset as “the thinnest iPhone ever, with the power of Pro inside. A paradox you have to hold to believe.”
Abidur added that the aim was to “make an iPhone that feels like a piece of future.”
Abidur Chowdhury, who was born and raised in London, has been working at Apple’s San Francisco offices since 2019. A graduate in product design and technology from Loughborough University in the United Kingdom, he previously worked with Cambridge Consultants, Curventa and Layer Design before joining Apple as an industrial designer.
His personal website notes that he is passionate about solving problems and building “innovative products people can’t bear to be without.”
