LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Prosecutors have begun playing a recording of the 2008 interview between Duane Davis and then-Los Angeles Police detectives Daryn Dupree and Greg Kading.
In the recording, Davis tells the detectives that Orlando Anderson fired the shots that killed Tupac Shakur.
“So, Orlando would have had to lean over the top of, uh, Dre [DeAndre Smith], right?” Kading asks.
“Yeah,” Davis answers. “He did, yeah.”

Thursday’s proceedings have begun with testimony from former Duane Davis associate Denvonta Lee.
Lee said he was initiated as a member of the South Side Crips street gang and admitted he was only testifying under a court order.
He told the court that he knew Mob Piru, one of the South Side Crips’ rival gangs, to be associated with Death Row Records, Marion “Suge” Knight and Tupac Shakur.

Jurors in the Tupac Shakur murder trial in Las Vegas could soon be tasked with watching hours of video.
Prosecutors on Wednesday said that they have a five-hour video to present as evidence in the trial of Duane “Keffe D” Davis. Testimony is expected to resume at 1 p.m. Thursday.
Davis is the only person charged in the 1996 murder of rap icon Tupac Shakur.
On Wednesday, former FBI Special Agent Wade Lee said that in an interview, Davis denied knowing who killed Shakur. Davis told investigators that he was angry about a brawl involving his nephew, Orlando Anderson, but that he wanted to retaliate in Compton, not Las Vegas, Lee testified.
The second witness, former Los Angeles Police Detective Daryn Dupree, said that he was assigned to the task force investigating the 1997 murder of rapper Christopher Wallace, also known Biggie Smalls and the Notorious B.I.G.
Davis came up during that murder investigation, and during questioning, Davis denied being involved in Wallace’s killing. Davis went on to say, “We did the other one,” Dupree told the jury.
Dupree testified that Davis described the brawl involving Anderson, how they went looking for Marion “Suge” Knight and Shakur, and passing the gun when they spotted the pair on the street.
The trial is expected to last several weeks.
