JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) -Culture, music, and community came together in Jackson Saturday for the 36th annual African Street Festival. The three-day event celebrates heritage and history through local art and entertainment.
Hosted by the Society for African American Cultural Awareness or SACA the festival filled Jackson with live music, dancers, and poets.

Attendees browsed local art and enjoyed authentic food, while families took part in children’s activities, drum classes, and free health screenings.

“Each year is challenging but we’re here still. And we’re very fortunate to be able to as we look on 100 years of Black history in America, it’s very important that we celebrate our history, our culture, and our beginnings,” said Wendy Trice, President at SACA.

Organizers say the annual festival continues to be a powerful way to preserve and share rich cultural traditions in the heart of West Tennessee.
