Vietnam is looking to deepen its engagement with Israel’s cybersecurity and technology ecosystem, with its ambassador visiting Be’er Sheva for meetings with Israeli cyber officials, researchers and innovation leaders.
Vietnam News Agency reported that Ambassador Nguyen Ky Son held discussions with the Israel National Cyber Directorate (INCD), its Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT), the Be’er Sheva Innovation District and Ben-Gurion University of the Negev’s cybersecurity research center.
The talks focused on practical areas of cooperation, including information sharing, cybersecurity training, research and technology development.
At the INCD, Son was briefed on Israel’s national cyber defense system and current challenges in responding to cyberattacks. He also toured the directorate’s national cybersecurity laboratory, which works on testing emerging technologies, supporting startups and researching operational technology.
Prof. Yuval Elovici from Ben-Gurion University presented the university’s cybersecurity research, including work on applying AI to cybersecurity. The two sides also discussed research and training opportunities and the possibility of Vietnamese students pursuing graduate studies in cybersecurity and AI with full scholarships.
The visit also highlighted Be’er Sheva’s model of bringing together government, academia, healthcare and technology companies to develop an innovation ecosystem.
The meetings come as Vietnam identifies cybersecurity, AI and other advanced technologies as strategic areas for development. For Israel, Vietnam offers a growing technology market and a potential partner in Asia. VNA described the meetings as opening new opportunities for bilateral cooperation, but no specific agreements were announced.
