Fitzgibbon Hospital and its operations are now under new ownership and management.
American Medical Administrators announced early Wednesday, Sept. 9 that they had completed the transaction acquiring Fitzgibbon Hospital and its related healthcare operations. The hospital, Living Center Skilled Nursing Facility, and rural health clinics will remain open and continue to serve patients through the transition. However, AMA says in a statement they may modify services and operations as they evaluate the needs of facilities, patients and the broader community. They add that they are working closely with employees, providers, residents, patients and community stakeholders to support the continuity of services and an orderly transition process.
The transaction received approval from U.S. Bankruptcy Court, after Fitzgibbon began Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in April. The sale was suppose to take place by August 31, but after the deadline to complete the sale was missed, Fitzgibbon filed an adversary proceeding last Wednesday seeking to compel AMA to fulfill their obligations under the sale agreement.
