The more valuable the medicines EBOS distributes, the worse its margins can look. That oddity is nothing new for the pharmaceutical distributor, but it’s being exaggerated by the growing popularity of weight loss drugs.

As the price of a medicine rises, EBOS doesn’t necessarily receive the same percentage of that higher price; the amount a wholesaler can earn on PBS medicines is regulated with various mark-ups and caps. Once a relevant cap is reached, the extra value of the medicine is meaningless.
