Indonesia, Southeast Asia’s largest economy, received 8.98 million international tourists in the first seven months of 2026, up 5.23% from a year earlier and the highest since 2020.
In July alone, the country recorded 1.52 million international tourists, up 10% from June and 2.95% from a year earlier, with Malaysians accounting for the largest share, according to data from Indonesia Statistics.

BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics Ateng Hartono attributed July’s increase to the end of school holidays, Umrah pilgrimages and events in Southeast Asia and China, Antara News Agency reported.
Indonesia received 15.3 million foreign arrivals in 2025, up 10% from the previous year.
The country expects to receive up to 17 million this year, up 11% year-on-year.
