Taylor’s dad, Scott, is doing well these days, and that’s in part to the medical staff who took care of him, according to Taylor. During her interview for SiriusXM’s “The Morning Mashup,” she explained, “He had amazing medical care and help and doctors and nurses who I am going to be forever grateful for.”
Beyond that, the superstar singer said that going through something like this “recontextualizes what matters to you.”

Once you’re aware of what is involved in a quintuple bypass surgery, you’ll realize that Taylor’s dad went through quite a physical ordeal.
“Quintuple bypass surgery is a complex procedure done to treat people with five severely blocked major arteries that feed the heart,” according to VeryWell Health. “Blood vessels are removed from another part of the body and transplanted onto each affected heart vessel to reroute blood flow around the blockages.”
VeryWell Health continues: “This surgery — also called quintuple coronary artery bypass graft surgery — improves blood supply to the heart, reducing pain, shortness of breath, and possibly the risk of cardiac-related death.”
Fortunately, you can take preventative measures before surgery becomes necessary. It was thanks to a cardiac stress test that Scott’s condition was detected by doctors, Taylor said during her appearance on fiancé Travis Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast (via People) on August 13.
“So, he’s been telling all his friends, ‘You need to get the stress test because that’s what’s actually preventative.’ If you can find that earlier, you don’t have to have a bypass surgery,” Taylor explained. “You can sort out those blockages with stents and things that are a lot less invasive.”
