Media crackdowns
The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate documented 84 separate violations against media workers by Israeli forces and illegal settlers during August alone, including the death of one journalist in detention and the live-fire wounding of another.
The syndicate confirmed that documented abuses encompassed direct assaults on reporting crews, severe obstruction of field coverage, arbitrary arrests, and the deliberate destruction of journalistic equipment.
Since the launch of its genocidal war in Gaza on October 7, 2023, Israel has escalated sweeping search-and-arrest incursions across the occupied West Bank, alongside surging settler attacks and large-scale demolitions of Palestinian homes and civil infrastructure.
According to data compiled by the Palestinian Prisoners Society, more than 9,400 Palestinians remain held inside Israeli detention facilities, including 370 children and 92 women, with human rights organisations warning that detainees endure systemic torture, physical mistreatment, and severe medical neglect.
