Yellow Magic Orchestra’s Haruomi Hosono performed a rare DJ set on The Lot Radio yesterday, September 14th.
Joined by Yuka and Kiko Mizahara, the synth-pop pioneer appeared on the New York radio station for two hours, playing both his own material and tracks by Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band, Gene Krupa Orchestra, Claudine Longet and more, as well as YMO’s 1993 track “Nostalgia.”
Hosono is preparing for his first US tour in seven years, which coincides with his first full-length album in that timespan, Yours, Sincerely, out last week via Ghostly. The 79-year-old musician has a long history of media appearances in the US, dating back to a 1980 appearance with Yellow Magic Orchestra on Soul Train.
