Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s return to the UK has already brought new challenges for their family, especially around their kids’ school arrangements. Just days after Archie and Lilibet started at a school in England, the couple moved them to another school after security and logistical concerns.
The change has now prompted questions from royal commentators about the planning behind Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s kids’ school arrangements, particularly the issues surrounding the daily routine.
Experts blame Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s ‘lack of preparedness’ with kids’ school run
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet reportedly attended their original school for just two days before Meghan and Harry decided to make a change. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams called the move “extraordinary” and said it “smacks of haste and a lack of preparedness by the Sussexes.”
Kinsey Schofield told Fox News Digital that locals had warned her about traffic around the school before the children started. She said, “When I spoke to people locally, the school-run traffic was one of the very first issues they raised with me.” Schofield argued that the family knew their home location, the distance to the school, and that their children could have different schedules. She also pointed to the requirements of their private security operation.
Schofield estimated that the journey could have meant a 45-minute commute four times a day. She said, “It was always an ambitious school run.” Royal broadcaster Ian Pelham Turner offered another perspective, saying Harry, Meghan and their security team were concerned about the journey and “how potential ambush cars could block their way and hijack the children.”
Turner said Harry and Meghan moved the children closer to home while reviewing their security arrangements. Schofield, however, believes the situation raises questions about the couple’s wider approach to their return to the UK. “This wasn’t some obscure problem nobody could have anticipated,” she said.
The Sussexes’ spokesperson said the decision followed a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their arrangements. The spokesperson also said Meghan and Harry remained grateful to the original school’s teachers and staff and that the move was not a reflection on the care the children received.
