A pelican in Florida was in need of help, so it knocked on NOAA’s door

Biologists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s fisheries office in Panama City said a pelican in distress appeared at their door looking for help after getting tangled up in fishing line, according to reporting from CNN.

The team at the NOAA office said they were working when they heard a distinct tapping sound on the door.

That’s when the pelican, tangled in the fishing line, was found with a hook lodged in its wing.

The biologists took the bird in, removed the hook, and freed it from the line.

The biologists said the pelican seemed to remain relatively patient and calm throughout the process.

Once given a clean bill of health, the bird flew away.

The fisheries office shared the encounter, marveling at how the pelican seemed to know exactly where to go for assistance.
