Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang believes artificial intelligence could generate approximately one million American jobs through a massive expansion of domestic computing infrastructure, offering a striking counterpoint to mounting fears that AI will replace human workers. His prediction points to an emerging industrial boom that could benefit construction workers, skilled tradespeople and communities across the United States.

Speaking alongside Elon Musk at an America.Gov event on September 29, Huang argued that the infrastructure supporting artificial superintelligence will look increasingly like traditional factories rather than conventional data centers.

He estimated that the U.S. could build between 10 and 20 gigawatts of new AI infrastructure annually, requiring substantial investment in electricity generation, cooling systems, networking and construction.

“And so we’re building this infrastructure out and, call it across all of the United States, somewhere between 10, 20 gigawatts a year. Let’s just estimate, that creates just, probably about a million jobs in building out these data centers,” Huang said.

His broader argument is that AI could help reverse decades of American industrial decline by generating fresh demand for blue-collar labor.

“And so this is the first time in probably, as you mentioned, 35 I was going to say 50 years first time in 50 years we are reindustrializing the United States, creating a whole bunch of blue-collar jobs.”

Musk reinforced that assessment, describing significant employment growth around his companies’ computing infrastructure projects, with some communities now experiencing more available jobs than workers.

Investors Takeaway

Huang’s forecast highlights how Nvidia’s growth opportunity increasingly extends beyond selling graphics processors.

Building AI infrastructure on this scale would require sustained spending on electricity generation, cooling equipment, construction and advanced semiconductors, potentially creating opportunities across the broader industrial economy.

However, his million-job estimate refers to infrastructure-related employment, not net job creation after accounting for potential AI displacement elsewhere.

Investors should monitor actual gigawatt deployments, power availability and data-center construction timelines to assess whether Huang’s predicted industrial expansion is materializing.
