Apple is currently beta testing iOS 27.2, its next major point update to its iPhone software, but there’s a particular quirk in this update that’s worth noting.

Apple never released iOS 27.1 to the public. Instead, it’s going from iOS 27 straight to iOS 27.2. That’s because the company plans to ship the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, on October 23, and it will have iOS 27.1 preinstalled exclusively.
Apple is following this strategy because it likely wants to keep some of the iPhone Duo features hidden for longer.
As for when iOS 27.2 will be released, we know it’s going to be sometime later this month. Apple has said the new Siri AI languages in iOS 27.2 would be available in October, so it’s likely iOS 27.2 will come shortly after the iPhone Duo’s release date.
So what else can we expect from iOS 27.2? There’s a new Call Context feature, an enhanced Apple TV app, a new Suggestions feature in Messages, and more. For all the details, check out our dedicated iOS 27.2 roundup.
