Taylor Swift has been a regular in the crowd at Arrowhead Stadium ever since she first showed up to cheer on Travis Kelce in September 2023, but her long streak of Kansas City Chiefs home games could be coming to an end this weekend.

Swift is now reportedly expected to miss Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers, as she has her sights set on a much different prize: her first Academy Award.

Swift’s Arrowhead Streak

Swift’s attendance at Chiefs games has become a weekly storyline over the last few seasons. According to Heavy, she has been at 14 straight Chiefs home games, with the last one she missed coming against the Chargers on Dec. 8, 2024, which was the final night of her Eras Tour.

That streak has carried into 2026, as she’s been at both of Kansas City’s home games so far. The Chiefs are 4-0 coming out of their bye week and host the Chargers on Sunday afternoon.

Taylor has also attended every Kansas City home game this season, supporting Kelce after they tied the knot at Madison Square Garden on July 3. But it sounds like that’s about to change.

‘This weekend is about Taylor’

Unfortunately, Taylor will not be in the stands this weekend as she has some prior obligations.

The night before Sunday’s game, Swift is scheduled to close out the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles, according to Good Morning America. The event is co-chaired by Steven Spielberg, Kate Capshaw, and Robert Rodriguez, and will honor John Carpenter, Colman Domingo, and Charlize Theron.

Swift has never received an Oscar nomination, but she’s reportedly determined to change that with “I Knew It, I Knew You,” her original song from Toy Story 5. And according to an insider who spoke to Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice, that means Kelce will have to go without her for a week.

“Taylor loves cheering for Travis, but this weekend is about Taylor,” the insider said. “He has his career. She has hers. And right now, hers involves winning an Oscar.”

The source also suggested that Spielberg could be a major asset for Swift in her Oscar push.

“Steven opens doors that even Taylor can’t open herself,” the source said. “This isn’t just another performance. It’s a chance to impress the people who actually vote for Oscars.”

“Taylor isn’t going to this gala just to sing,” the insider added. “She’s going to make sure Hollywood takes her seriously.”
