The firm, which won a RIBA National and a RIAS award for its Iorram house scheme this year, has designed the buildings for an sawmill site on the Logie Estate in Moray.

Both structures have been developed using an adaptable timber truss system, which will be prefabricated off-site.

One building is a facility for maintenance and estate management purposes and the other features four commercial units under one roof, offering space for local businesses.

Baillie Baillie, which was founded in 2019, designed the buildings in collaboration with materials firm Logie Timber – which is based on the estate – and engineers Design Engineering Workshop.

The two buildings add to an existing group of timber structures previously developed by Logie Estate and Logie Timber.

Director Colin Baillie said: ‘Logie Estate shows how much more can be done with home-sourced timber, so we wanted to design something that fits with their ethos and ours. It’s been a like-minded process in that way and really shows the strength of thinking locally and collaboratively.’

Work is expected to start on site this year and complete by next summer.

The Logie Estate, which dates back to the 18th century, features Logie House, which is built in the Scots Baronial style.
