Constance Wu is talking Crazy Rich Asians.

The actress discussed the upcoming HBO series, which serves as a follow-up to the 2018 film, while on Today.

She also confirmed that she’s read at least one script for it.

Constance Wu is providing an update on the long-awaited Crazy Rich Asians sequel.

The actress, who starred as Rachel Chu in the original 2018 rom-com, was asked what she could share about HBO’s upcoming television series while visiting the Today show on Friday.

“Well, I mean, the first movie is based on the book by Kevin Kwan,” Wu responded. “And he actually has a whole bunch of books in the Crazy Rich Asians world, and so a lot of it follows that.”

She continued, “I could tell you that we’re all excited to be coming back. It’s filming here in New York where I live, so I’m thrilled about that. I think it’s really funny.”

The Terminal List star also confirmed that she’s seen at least one script as the show prepares for production in 2027.

When pressed for her thoughts on it, Wu replied, “It’s very funny and it’s very… I don’t know. I think it’s really good. We’re in great hands because Adele [Lim] is showrunning and writing and she did the original [film], and she’s just so smart and good and talented that I feel just great with her at the helm.”

Earlier this month, HBO announced that it had ordered an hour-long series, also titled Crazy Rich Asians, as a follow-up to the successful romantic comedy. The network also confirmed that several stars from the original — including Wu, Henry Golding, Ronny Chieng, and Michelle Yeoh — would also be reprising their roles in the project.

Lim, who serves as showrunner and an executive producer, celebrated the announcement in a statement. “It’s a CRAZY RICH family reunion!” she said. “This series is the sequel we’ve been waiting for, but instead of just one movie, we get eight episodes to delve into the characters and worlds of Kevin Kwan’s brilliant books.”

She continued, “Getting to work with the original creative team with the support and vision of HBO and Warner Bros. Television has been a dream. Our writers room is humming and we can’t wait to share what we’ve come up with.”

Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu, who has since directed In the Heights and the two Wicked films since its release, also voiced his support for the series.

“Eight years ago, CRAZY RICH ASIANS changed my life, and I got to make it with the most creative and hilarious group of people I’ve ever known,” he said. “Since then, this cast has become movie stars, superheroes, arena-filling performers and even an Oscar winner, so bringing everyone back together feels like coming home.”

He added, “It’s been incredible watching audiences make this movie part of their lives, from mahjong nights to becoming the ultimate airplane movie, and I can’t wait to share what comes next. Finally, I get to answer the question I’ve been asked almost every day for eight years: ‘When are we getting the sequel?’ Well… bok bok bitch, we’re back.'”
