Crunchyroll has cemented itself as the premier streaming service in the West, and fans couldn’t wait to check out one of the most highly anticipated isekai series around. Isekai has become incredibly popular over the past few years, and this Crunchyroll exclusive was almost destined to dominate the charts.
Unfortunately, The Beginning After the End has one of the worst adaptations in the art form. It quickly became the biggest flop of the entire year, forcing the franchise’s creator to speak out about the adaptation after just a few episodes.
The trailer for the second season has just been released, but Studio A-Cat might not be able to salvage this disaster of an adaptation.

It’s The Single Biggest Let-Down of 2025

There are few anime adaptations as bad as The Beginning After the End. It’s an adaptation so bad that it almost felt purposeful, like the studio was trying to tank the anime before it could ever pick up momentum.
The manhwa the series is based on is phenomenal, making this adaptation an even bigger disappointment. Some of the worst aspects of the anime include an overwhelming lack of animation, several key changes made unnecessarily, and an omission of major portions of lore.
If there’s one positive that The Beginning After the End’s first season brought forward, it’s that it introduced thousands of people around the world to one of the most exciting Webtoons around. The Webtoon and light novel it’s based on are both worth checking out, and they’re both much better than the anime adaptation.

Studio A-Cat, the animation studio behind both the first and second season of The Beginning After the End, has just released the trailer for the new season. While the trailer looks like it’s improving upon the lack of animation the first season was marred by, the adaptation still has a long way to go.
Luckily, the anime community has been very vocal about their problems with The Beginning After the End’s first season. Studio A-Cat should know exactly what they need to do to make the second season watchable.
TurtleMe, the mind behind The Beginning After the End, created an amazing source material that needs little to no changes, so hopefully Studio A-Cat doesn’t feel the need to make even more confusing tweaks.
The second season of The Beginning After the End is set to air in April 2026. The bar couldn’t be lower for this series, and Studio A-Cat has so much room to improve that it should be almost guaranteed that the second season will be better than the first.
